Privacy Policy
How TeaLamp handles your information.Introduction
Last updated: October 3, 2026.
This Privacy Policy explains what information TeaLamp (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit tealamp.com (the “site”), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Information we collect
We collect as little information as we need to run the site.
- Information you give us. If you contact us through the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you enter. If comments are enabled on an article and you leave one, we receive the name, email address, website (optional) and comment text you submit.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our servers and security tools record technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referring page and the date and time of your visit.
- Cookies and similar technologies. See the section on cookies below.
How we use information
We use information to operate and secure the site, to respond to messages, to moderate comments, to understand how the site is used so we can improve it, to prevent spam and abuse, to display advertising (if and when it is enabled) and to comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- Essential cookies that keep the site working and secure, and remember your comment details if you choose.
- Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics 4:
_gaand_ga_<measurement ID>. They distinguish visitors and sessions so that we can see, in aggregate, how the site is used (for example, which articles are read). These cookies are set only if you click Accept on our cookie banner. Google sets them for up to about two years unless you delete them sooner. - Your cookie choice. To remember whether you accepted or declined, we store a first-party cookie named
tl_consenton your device for up to 180 days (about six months). It contains only the word “granted” or “denied” and is not used for tracking.
You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work. When you first visit, a banner at the bottom of the page lets you Accept or Decline analytics cookies; both buttons are equally prominent. If you decline, or until you choose, no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page, which reopens the banner. Declining after having accepted also removes the Google Analytics cookies we can access from your browser. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser, or use the opt-out add-on described in the Analytics section.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google, to collect aggregated statistics about visits. The Google tag (loaded from googletagmanager.com) runs on the public pages of the site and uses Google Consent Mode. By default, before you make a choice, all Google consent signals (analytics storage, advertising storage, ad user data and ad personalisation) are set to “denied”. In that state the tag sets no analytics cookies, but Google Analytics may still receive limited, cookieless pings, which can include the page you view, the page that referred you, your device and browser, your approximate location, and your IP address as part of the request. If you click Accept, analytics storage is granted: the tag then sets the _ga and _ga_<measurement ID> cookies and measures visits in more detail. If you click Decline, the signals stay denied and the cookies are not set. Accepting never grants the advertising signals (advertising storage, ad user data and ad personalisation); they stay denied because we do not run advertising on this site. Google signals is enabled in our Google Analytics property, but since we never grant those advertising signals, we do not use this data for ad personalisation. You can review your Google ad settings in Google Ads Settings. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising
TeaLamp does not currently display advertisements or load advertising scripts. If that changes, we will update this section before advertising starts. The analytics described above is not used to show ads on this site.
Sharing of information
We share information only with service providers that help us run the site (for example hosting, security, email delivery, analytics and advertising partners), when required by law or to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer. These providers may only use the information to perform services for us or as described in their own policies.
Third-party links and content
Articles contain links to the original publications and other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites, and we encourage you to read their policies.
Data retention and security
We keep contact messages and comments only for as long as needed for the purpose for which they were provided, or as required by law. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Canada or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. You can withdraw your consent to analytics cookies at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer. To exercise other rights, contact us through our Contact page.
