Editorial and AI Policy

How we choose, check, credit and prepare articles.

What we publish

Last updated: October 3, 2026.

TeaLamp is a magazine of curated, openly licensed, high-quality articles for curious readers. We publish in six areas: Ideas & Opinions, Art & Culture, Lifestyle, Environment, Interviews and Business. We favour writing that is factual, thoughtful, positive in spirit and interesting to a general reader. Alongside adapted articles, we also publish short original explainers by the TeaLamp Editorial Team.

How we choose sources

  • Open licences only. We publish only work under licences that allow republishing and adaptation, such as CC BY, CC BY-SA, CC0, public domain, or terms that explicitly permit reuse with attribution.
  • We check every article. The licence is verified on the page of the specific article, not just on the publisher’s home page.
  • No restricted licences. We avoid licences that forbid commercial use (NC) or adaptation and translation (ND), and we never use paywalled or subscriber-only text.
  • Reputable sources. We prefer established publishers, research organisations and journals. Key facts are cross-checked against another reliable source.

Credit and transparency

Every republished article names its author and original publisher, links to the original, and states the licence in the body and in the credit line. We say plainly what we changed, for example formatting, translation, shortened sections or omitted third-party charts. We do not use an article in a way that suggests the original author or publisher endorses TeaLamp.

How we use AI

We use artificial intelligence to help prepare articles: adapting, formatting and translating text, and creating illustrations. When AI has been involved in preparing an article, the article is credited to the “TeaLamp Editorial Team”. We follow these rules:

  • AI-assisted articles must stay faithful to the original: no invented facts, quotes or sources, and no changes of meaning.
  • Images generated by AI inside an article are captioned “Image generated by AI”.
  • We do not present AI as a human author and we do not invent author biographies.
  • AI output is checked against the source before publication, but errors can still slip through; please report any you find.

Who runs TeaLamp

TeaLamp was founded and is edited by HB. Our articles, both adaptations of openly licensed work and our own original explainers, are written with the help of AI and overseen by HB, who sets these editorial rules, chooses the sources we rely on and handles corrections.

Content standards

  • No sexual or pornographic content.
  • Politics only when handled strictly neutrally, without supporting any party, government or politician.
  • Religion only when treated respectfully.
  • Health and science topics must be accurate, with reliable sources cited. Nothing here replaces professional advice (see our Disclaimer).
  • Images must be properly licensed, credited and free of watermarks.

Independence and advertising

Editorial choices are made on quality, relevance and licence suitability. If advertising is added to the site, it will be clearly separate from articles and will not influence what we publish.

Corrections

We correct errors quickly and transparently. If you find a mistake, a broken link or a wrong credit, please write to us through the Contact page. Authors and publishers may also ask for a credit, link or licence note to be updated or for an article to be removed.
